Hello, my name is Kyle Matthew Moore and I would like to say how thankful I am to call the Alleghany Highlands home. I have lived here for 26 years with my family and we love this community. I have been a member of the Virginia State Police as a Trooper and a Sergeant during that time. I also served in the U.S. Army and retired in 2017 as a Master Sergeant.

The Alleghany County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of the following traffic alert.

CSX has a road closure scheduled for September 28th to conduct repairs on the existing railroad crossing. The closure will take place on Route 602 (Big Ridge Road) in Alleghany County. The current plan is to be able have the work completed in a single day and the road will be reopened for residents the evening of the 28th. CSX has been in conversation with Alleghany County including the sheriff’s office and the emergency response coordinator.

Please make preparations to avoid this area on September 28th. Any further developments will be made available immediately if we are made aware of any.
