We are less than a month away from the 1st annual Alleghany County Sheriff's Office community block party. We are very hopeful that many of you plan to attend. This event will also serve as a way for citizens to get to know the Sheriff's Office personnel.
The day will start with a joy ride. At 10am we will meet at the Jackson River Sports Complex. Motorcycles, cars, whatever you want to ride around the county in. A pre-planned route will be explained that morning.
We will finish up at the Sports Complex around noon and by that time, lunch will be ready. Lunch will consist of BBQ (pork & chicken) prepared by Blow N Smoke and Hickory bent and Rail bound, with several different types of sides. There will be two bands that will provide music. 12:00 - 2:30 will be Full Tilt Boogie (old rock) & 2:30 until 5:00 will be Highway 42 (bluegrass / gospel). Games for the kids will be available. A sack race will take place for five different age groups. 3-5 years old, 6-9 years old, 10-13 years old, 13-18 years old and 18+. Trophies will be provided. Bouncy houses, cornhole, basketball and tennis will be available also. For those that wish to show off their automobiles there will be a people's choice award for all vehicles present and on display.
This event will be a way for the Sheriff's Office to give back to a community that has given so much to us. We want to thank everyone for their support.
